About fastbreakfix

fastbreakfix is an independent editorial index of hotels, organised into four branches: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. It exists because those four categories are usually written about in isolation, and reading them side by side turns out to be more interesting than reading any one of them alone.

The site is geography-neutral. We are not a guide to one country and we do not write in the voice of a local. Entries are chosen because the building has something specific to say about its category — a construction method, a collection, a site, a format — not because of where it sits on a map.

How entries are written

Each hotel gets a few paragraphs of prose and a short row of fact tags. We describe general, durable characteristics: what the building is, what it was, how the rooms are arranged, what the setting does to a stay. We avoid anything that would need a source and a date — prices, seasonal availability, awards, ownership changes.

There are no star ratings, no review scores and no rankings anywhere on this site. There are also no guest reviews, because we do not collect any.

What we do not do

• We do not take bookings and hold no inventory.
• We do not quote rates or availability.
• We do not accept payment from hotels for inclusion or placement.
• We do not publish reviews, ratings or scores.

The casino hotels branch is written the same way as the others: as hotels. Gaming appears as one facility among the restaurants, theatres and spas, and we do not describe games, odds or promotions.
